I’m a journalist, critic, and a staff writer at The New Yorker, where I cover breaking news and politics from around the country. I often write about culture, sexuality, drugs, and night life, and I am the author of the books “Future Sex” and “Nollywood: The Making of a Film Empire.” I maintain a semi-comprehensive index of my writing here. My third book, “Health and Safety,” a personal and political memoir of the years 2016 to 2020, will be published by Pantheon on September 17, 2024.

I started this newsletter for friends and readers who want to know about upcoming events or when I’ve published an article or done an interview somewhere. I also wanted to have a place to share articles and books I enjoyed and for casual commentary about the subjects that interest me: nonfiction literature and magazine writing; internet dating and relationships; feminism and gender equality; sex, drugs, and techno.
